B4S

I am coining a new phrase. B4S. Before Sick. I've noticed a lot of changes to our routine since having sick children for over a week. Specifically with Kai. B4S I would hear him wake up, go into his room and play a game peeking at him through the slats of his crib. Now, I dread him waking up because that means I 'll have to go in and deal with either a) puke everywhere- matted to his head, stuck to his hands... or b) the stinkiest explosion mishaps EVER that somehow the diaper fails to catch. I'm talking to the neck, down both legs mishaps. If it was an extremely good nap I'll get to deal with both. B4S we would have meals at a regular time and take a regular length of time to eat. Now, we have mac & cheese twice a day because that is what Ryan is best at making. (I think we need to work on this). I just don't feel like cooking when everything I make I end up seeing again in a less than favorable situation. B4S I did one load of laundry a day and was always pretty much caught up. Now I do al least 3 loads a day and should be doing 4! This happens when 2 of the loads are crib sheet, blanket, clothes off baby and towel from baby having bath. Yes, the towel gets washed daily because who really knows if everything really came off in the bath? B4S Kai went to bed at 7pm. If he held out that long. Now, he has 2 or 3 really longs naps in the day and stays up later. Today his naps were 2 then 3.5 hrs long. I wonder what time he'll go to bed tonight. Not necessarily a bad thing, just different. One last thing...definitely a good thing...B4S Kai was not a cuddler. Now, all he wants to do for most of the time he's awake is cuddle. Sad he's sick, happy he cuddles!

I did it!

My first photoshopped collage!! With A LOT of help from my SIL. (hehehe...I accidently spelt help h-e-l-l which is what my SIL probably went through because of all my calls!) This isn't the final product - I sent it off to Costco to be printed. I have plans to crop around the pictures so I can mat it and add some fun "extras" to it! If you double click on the collage you can see the pictures in a bigger size. Check back in a couple days for the finished product!

My poor children

(upon reading this post I realized there is a lot of puke mentioned. Skip over this one if you have a queasy tummy.)

Well, another boy down for the count. Cam got sick about lunch time yesterday and hasn't let up. Poor guy. He is a happy, sick child though. He told me his tummy hurt yesterday and I said "I'm sorry, Cam" He replied "That's ok, mom, I still love you!" Cute. Then, a while later he was asking me about beavers and what they were. I had no idea where this train of thought came from but told him what I knew about beavers. He looked at me funny but didn't really say anything. I overheard Cammie last night talking to Noah about how he had a beaver because he was sick. We were confused until we realized he meant fever! I hope he doesn't ask where his beaver is when he feels better!

There is an international basketball league starting up with a team here in Edmonton. They had an exhibition game last night that Perry was reffing, so Ryan and Noah went with him. Unfortunately, Ryan was sick in the ref room while Perry was reffing, so Noah had to clean it up. What a good brother! Luckily Ryan woke up this morning fine and went to school. Kai woke up from his nap covered in puke so I really hope he is as quick as Ryan to recover! There is nothing worse than a puking baby. At least the older ones can hit a bucket!

Ok, that was a lot of puke for one post. I hope you are still feeling well after reading this!

Pun Fun

What a cute set this is! And if you purchase it right now you get the wheel for free!
This is my take on this card. Scroll down to April 14th. I changed it up a bit as I wanted to create a shaker card for my stampers group. The ruby red paper is stamped using the sweet stars wheel (free, if you purchase Pun Fun before the end of April), the rocket is stamped in basic black on glossy paper and then colored with the white watercolor wonder crayon. Versamark the moon and then brayer the whole thing with going gray. Wipe off the paper with a paper towel, color in the rocket with your markers and your good to go! Too cute!

I'm so proud!

Once again, sorry for the fuzzy picture. Must give old camera to hubby and keep new one for self!
Noah came and asked if he could make some chocolates for his teachers at school and this is what he did. he picked out the paper,I showed him how to do one, and off he went! It kept him busy for a bit and I think they turned out great!

Stampers Group

Stampers group was last night, and boy did it seem like such a long time since we had been together! We had a great time creating a shaker card using the Pun Fun rocket ship. Too cool! These are the cards for our challenge - Sue Ann's two at the top and Julie's at the bottom. They always do such a good job with the challenge and I get some ideas - like Julie's vertical strip of ribbon - adorable!

Friday...Sunday

So, Friday is soo nice! We are roller blading, playing hockey outside and having a grand time. Then the weather starts. Wind, rain, snow, more wind. By Sunday, we have drifts. Tons of snow. The bike picture was taken about 7:30 and night - see how light it still is? It is suppose to be spring. I would really like it to be spring! Maybe, some day, spring and then *gasp* summer might come. One can only hope!

Poor Noah. To go along with the crummy weather he picked up a flu bug somewhere. He's been flat on his back simce yesterday, and that is not like Noah! His legs ache and his stomache aches and he is not feeling good at all. Maybe tomorrow he'll be back to his old lively self. I hope.

Finishing up some projects

I finally got these finished! These have been sitting on my craft table begging to be completed for quite a while. Of course, Cam looked at Noah's and really wanted shiny letters for his name, too. I'm going to have to add some shine tomorrow!
The books were just ones I picked up from the $1.50 bin at Michaels. I covered them with DP, added some ribbon and a couple stamps, and done! Yah!

a quick trip?

Whoever said the term "quick trip" didn't try and do it with 4 boys in tow. All we need to pack is underwear, toothbrush, pj's and 1 clean set of clothes. How long should this take to accomplish? Not 45 minutes. Sheesh...what was I thinking?...lol!

Trace Atkins has a song on the radio right now called "You're gonna miss this" and it's about how his children are grown and how he's missing the "parenting" part of being a dad. Or something like that. Now picture this...2 boys in the back seat argueing about what movie to watch on the portable DVD player, 1 child sobbing in the front seat because he wants to sit between his brothers, never mind that his car seat is in the front, and a 2nd boy testing his lungs in the front seat just for something to do. I checked - no diaper needing changed, didn't want a snack or drink...or toy, or phone, or empty Girl Guide cookie box to play with...LOL. AAAHHH!!! I think Mr. Atkins may be so removed from parenting that he can romantize it and has forgotten the reality of it. At least we are all home and no one got left on the side of the road!

Good night, I'm going to bed!

I'm addicted...

...to Dawn's tutorials!!

Aren't these just the cutest?? I love the little chocolates...they hold 2 Hersey nuggets. What are we going to do when Hersey stops making these?? The DP is PERFECT for these because you don't have to decide what paper to put together - just punch 2 scallops and cut 2 pieces of paper 1" x 3" out of the same paper and assemble. See the tutorial, but it is super easy and fast!

The little set of a card, chocolate and purse are for my sweet SIL - I know she won't see it before she gets it because she's out of town for a coupla days...hehehe. Just to tell her I love her and I love sharing Stampin' Up with her! She is an awesome demonstrator in her neck of the woods and her girls are lucky to have her!!

oh- I did get done the purse for my friend coming home from her holiday...I can't wait to go put it on her door!

Friday, April 11, 2008

hehehe

This purse just makes me grin when I look at it! So cute! I saw the tutorial on this blog, and had to try it out. It is so quick...like for instance, if you are about 1/2 done making it and you hear your one year old wake up from his nap, you can still finish it before said child starts to cry and want out of his bed. It's that quick!

I used DP and the Be Happy stamp set, scallop punch, circle punch, coluzzle cutting system with oval template and some ribbon. I filled it with...what else??....swedish berries. My favorite treat!!

I think I'm gonna make another one tonight with "Welcome Back" on the front for my friend who has been on a cruise through Greece and is due back soon. I can't wait!

I hope you run and make one! They will make you smile for the rest of the day!

Chocolate covered strawberry anyone?

Isn't this just the cutest? Who doesn't love
strawberries dipped in milk chocolate? (Really, the only kind of chocolate worth mentioning!!)
I first saw this yummy treat here.
You stamp the berry, color the chocolate in with a marker and then cover with Crystal Effects. Too cute!

MIA

AAAHHH!!! I can't believe its been a week since I posted! I blame it on the nasty cold/cough bug I had last week. I thought I was going to die! But, much better now, thanks for asking! I haven't had a chance to get to my craft room, but I have big plans for the weekend that include me, my craft room and a bowl of peanut m & m's. Perry is in Calgary for the weekend so it should go smoothly! Check back soon to see what I got done!

What did you do?

You've heard of being in the doghouse? Cam has willingly put himself there. What did he do? I wish I knew! I need to get a photoshop program soon ~ wouldn't this picture be too cute cropped and enlarged? I love Cam's expression, like "How much longer am I here, mom?!" I love it!

MY FIRST...

SHAKER CARD!!! How fun is this!?! There are maybe a few too many beads in it, but I love it!
I used a round coaster (again, FUN!) and cut out the centre using my coluzzle, then glued a piece of acetate (transparency) on top, then covered with the patterned paper which I had traced before glueing the acetate on. I sanded the outside edge. Then, turn the coaster upside down, pour some micro beads into the centre, then glue another piece of acetate on the back to keep the beads in. I did it this way so that I could play with the placement after the beads were in without having to worry about losing all the beads! The back is the dotted BG stamp clear embossed on going gray paper, add some ribbon and whala!! A cute "Get Whale Soon!" card! I got the idea to use a coaster as the base for the shaker here. Keep scrolling down until you get to March 18th.
