Yikes!!

We leave the country in 9 hrs. 2.5 of those hours involves being at the airport. I still have to pack for myself, pack the kids play stuff bag, tidy the house, take the garbage out and sleep. Yowzers!! I was doing so good, but then I had to run to my sisters to borrow and play pen and I got sucked into THE MALL. I was just going to run in, but I didn't surface for 4 hrs!! It was fun, though. I got a really cute swim suit for $26. And some lovely body cream from Bath and Body Works. And a top from Lulu. That's about it. Good times!

Tonight I was making Cam try on shorts before I packed his bag and Kai got really into it. He'd go to the drawer, pull out either a shirt or shorts, then lift his arms or legs until I helped him put them on. It really was cute! When the drawer was empty he had on 3 pairs of shorts, his regular long sleeved shirt, 2 muscle shirts, a swim shirt and a button up shirt I got at the Dominican last winter. He looked like he gained ten pounds! I wish I had a picture but the camera was already packed.

Well, have a great New Years and I'll see you in '09!

Pictures

This is Noah's team when they got to play at Rexall. Perry took all of the boys and they all got to skate for about an hour. Cam wandered around when Noah was playing his game and was talking to Kevin Lowe and Mathieu Garon. I don't know if Garon's name is spelt right, but he is a goalie for the Oilers and Lowe is the GM. Noah was ripped off Cam got to meet them and he didn't!

Noah got asked to play with the Div 1 team again on Tuesday night. He scored 2 goals!! The hat he has on is the MVP hat that the team gives to someone after every game. He'll take it back for the next game so they can give it out again. He was so excited to get it!
Ever seen a curly mohawk? Bella (Perry's niece) is 4 and tried styling Kai's hair with toothpaste. You gotta use what you got! Jenee cleaned Kai's hair and this is what he ended up with!

HI

So I really don't have anything wonderful to tell you - I'm just procrastinating doing the dishes. Boy its cold here! I'm not to excited about this weather. I hope it doesn't last long! Perry was in Phoenix over the weekend and golfed in shorts. No, no, I'm happy for him, really...not jealous at all!

I'm going shopping tomorrow at THE MALL. Yes, I'm crazy, but totally looking forward to it! Mostly because I'm getting stuff for our trip, and that's exciting! We had to buy some new luggage because we didn't have enough for everyone. Costco had this great bag on sale and so I picked up 5! Who needs that much luggage LOL! They are perfect though for the boys, and they are a bit smaller that what I have, so I needed one, too!

Noah plays on a division 2 hockey team. Yesterday the coach from the div 1 team called him and asked if he would play a game in Lacombe with them. Noah was so excited to be asked. I took Noah and Cam and we watched the game - it was awesome! Noah scored a goal and looked like he fit right in. I was pretty impressed with the team- they gave Noah a round of applause in the change room because he did so good and to say "Thanks for coming!". When we were leaving about 7 or 8 different parents thanked Noah for coming and even thanked me for bringing him. This hockey business is crazy! The parents are so into it and cheer like crazy during the game. O yah - they won 5-2!

Well, I suppose I should go get my dishes done because Perry's brother and his family get here tomorrow night. Yikes! Is it Christmas already??

Guess what I'm doing tomorrow

Cooking. Not Christmas baking or yummy cookies, but cooking. I went to put something in one of our freezers and was greeted with the "Oh, somethings not frozen" smell. I have completely thawed burgers, roasts and a partially thawed turkey. I was going to clean the freezer out sometime soon, but the time seems to be tomorrow! On the plus side, I can make a bunch of freezer meals with it and put them in our new freezer and use them when we have company next week. It'll all work out. I think maybe the old freezer was getting tired of being called the "old freezer" instead of our first, or original, or smaller freezer.

OMGosh!!!

I did it!! I really did it!
I just booked 6 flights to the Dominican for New Years! Whoo Hoo! This is too crazy - I've never travelled with one child let alone 4. I may need a holiday to recooperate from this vacation!

What do you put in a Christmas basket?

This is what 25 Christmas baskets looks like in the back of my van. This was the second load so WHOO HOO!!!! I'm done!

Yesterday I was trying to get them finished and Noah constantly interrupted with questions and comments and I was getting very frustrated - he finally asked - "What is more important, me or the baskets?" I said the baskets were paying for his really expensive Christmas present, and he said "Carry on!"

The tags, mints and chocolate bar that went inside. I don't know why the picture is sideways - just tilt your head a little to the right.

Chocolates. Yum. I do have to say after making 50 of these I'm really not excited about eating any. All the better because I started here last week and am going to do it!!

update

Just a quick update on Cam, because I know you care! Not once has he wet the bed. It makes me wonder what else he could do that I'm just holding him back from. He has it in his head he wants to snowboard this year...

My Holiday Baking

The festive season just doesn't seem to start until my house is filled with the aroma of a freshly opened bag of these babies!!! Love, Love, Love 'em!!!

Whoo Hoo!!!

Cam wears a pull up to bed at night. He wakes up soaked. Not just a little - but have a bath do the laundry soaked. He's asked a few times to wear underwear to bed, but I think you understand why I think this is too risky. Two nights ago he asked again and I let him. No bedtime drink, and then I took him potty when I went to bed. The next morning...DRY!!! WHOO HOO!!! Again last night...Success!! I hope pull ups are a thing of the past! (anyone need a bag of size 5 pullups?)

How'd you like to wake up to this?

2 for Cam

All right, I have to admit that my 5 year makes me laugh. Not just smile, but laugh out loud. He is too funny!

I have always been noncommittal on the big debate on whether or not day light savings is a good thing or not. I really don't even know if there is a big debate. It's just always been there. When one of my boys asked hubby why Saskatchewan didn't do the time change, he got "Because it would mess up the chickens." I was impressed someone knew Sask. didn't do the time change.

However, now that I have boys who bus it to school, I'll admit I like the time change. Before it was still dark outside when they left the house, and now it's not! Good enough for me.

My two youngest are out of bed a little earlier in the morning since we turned back the clocks. I don't mind. Back to my five year old...

This morning Cam and Kai came walking into my room at 7 am. My alarm had gone off, and I was getting up, so no worries. I asked Cam if he opened the door for Kai, and got that "Are you dense? Of Course." look that children seem to learn quickly. Last week Kai climbed out of his crib; I was just checking to see if he added opening doors to his arsenal. Cam helped Kai up onto the bed the turned and said to me..."Are you ok if I leave him here with you?" I told him I thought we'd handle it.

After lunch Cam and I were playing this game that he does with his brothers...it's all hand claps and slaps said to a tune and ends with someone getting punched. I just mumble along. About half way through you play a game of rock, paper, scissors. Cam came out with a gun - you know, thumb and forefinger- instead of scissors and sent me another look before he started laughing and said "Where did that come from? "

I tell you, nothing like a 5 year old to keep you young! Love him!

Happy Halloween!

Kai has a hat, mitts and socks as well, but wouldn't keep them on. He was the cutest turtle!
Somehow I didn't get a picture of Cam the Caterpillar. We'll have to take a picture tomorrow.
Noah was dead superman. Why not just regular superman, I don't know. He was happy though.
Ryan pulled the gangster outfit off quite well, don't you think? The glasses were the finishing touch!
~Happy Haunting!

Just give him a box...

You know on birthdays when the child opens their presents and then only plays with the box it came in? Kai reminded me of that when he kept climbing into the freezer bag. He had a great time getting in and out, and eventually Cam even joined him. Funny boys!

107

This is the number of socks that I matched yesterday. Let me clarify - I matched 214 socks to make 107 pairs. I have kind of been procrastinating matching socks, and when I've done laundry if the mate isn't right there, I've been throwing them in a laundry basket. Well, I needed something to do as an excuse to watch a movie I've been wanting to watch, so I sat down to match socks while I watched the movie. 107. I didn't even know we had that many pairs in the house. And, to make matters worse, there are still about 30 unmatched socks in my basket. Unbelievable! And to think I was going to just go buy new socks and start from scratch! That is how much I didn't want to do the job! I had Noah do 15 pairs as a chore one night, and the next 7 pairs I went to put on boys were not pairs. It made me think of my sister who didn't match socks ever (Does she now? I don't know!) and who always said she had another pair in her drawer just like it. Too funny! I don't think I'll let them pile up quite that much again!

LIfe as I know it...

...is over. Holy cow. Having 3 boys in hockey is going to be a challenge. I'm going to have to come up with some interesting travel conversation. Poor Kai, though, he's the one travelling everywhere with no payoff at the end! The upside is he gets to play in snow that the zamboni dumps before its even really cold outside!

As requested...

My bedroom wall. The words are from a stamp from Stampin' Up!. It says
Together: (to-geth-er) adv
You and Me
lonely no more; with another.
Inseparable. In harmony; in sync.

OMGosh! Guess what I got?

So, my sister and I made a quick trip down to southern Alberta to visit my grandpa. Coming home I stopped in Red Deer because at Pier 1 they had a chair that I have been coveting for about a month. I just stopped to see if it was on sale yet or not. It wasn't. However, the headboard, footboard, bench and table that I also loved was on sale! Whoo hoo!

When I got it home and was unpacking Perry was quite impressed that I got it all in my van! And, do you know what my DH said? "As long as it puts a smile on your face it's worth every penny!" How sweet is that??

If you could buy happiness, it's at Costco for $249.99

Ok, so my house is not a disaster.
Usually.
I keep it as tidy as I can.
Most of the time.
For about the last month or so though, I'd be done cleaning and not happy with how my house looked. The paint is 5 years old, but not super bad. The windows are clean. The light fixtures are clean. I don't get it. Yes, my carpets need cleaned. Always. Whoever put cream colored carpets in the enrtry way, hall and Living room obviously did not have 4 boys. I don' know why we haven't changed them yet. So, afer looking at my house after I was done cleaning and not happy, I decided the carpets needed cleaned. Off to Costco, and hence the $249.99 for a new carpet cleaner. I could have had someone come and do them, but it would have cost the same and I'd have to keep paying it everytime I wanted clean carpets.
WOW!!! My carpets are clean and I walk into the room and just stand and admire them! My house feels clean again! YAH!!!

hee hee hee

Noah loves to style Kai's hair in the tub. You should have seen Kai's 'do the next morning after it dried like this!!

Out with the old and in with the new...

This was made for Noah's friend. It is made with wild wasabi - and everything on it has been discontinued! How did this happen? Oh, well, its a good thing Stampin'Up! replaces their good things with, well, more great things!!
I love this combo of kiwi kiss - really not my favorite color when I got it, but LOVING it now! - and pink pirouette. The words are pretty light in the picture, but IRL you can see them much better. The DP is Bella Rose and the ink is Chocolate Chip. Check out all the details over at www.kaylanistothart.stampinup.net.

You can purchase them, or get one for free when hosting your own workshop. You don't want to be without one at all!

Holy Cow!

Well. Ryan and Perry went shoe shopping the other day because Ryan's shoes were falling apart. They ended up buying a size 7 mens runner for him. Perry said he was surprised they were so big, but I really didn't think anything about it. Perry is a size 9, and his brothers are all close to that even though they range in height from about 6'1" to 6'4". Still, I didn't think anything of it...UNTIL...Noah was reading the bottom of my flip flops that said mens - 7, womens - 9. Then, he asked if these shoes were Ryan's or mom's? HOLY COW - we have the same size feet!!! When did that happen? To top it off, Noah's new shoes are size 6 1/2. I'm sure they will both be taller than me soon, too!

I love these cards!!

I first saw the pattern for these cards here on Roxy's site and knew I had to make some. I absolutely love her site and visit it everyday!

Here is my take on them. I hope you love them, too!

Here it is closed. I opted for ribbon instead of a belly band, but either would work - and both are very cute!

When you untie the ribbon...whoo hooo!...another cute little layer. But...wait for the rest...

Here is the inside - lots of room for a great big message! (Or a smaller one if you prefer...lol!)

Well, I'm off to make some more!

Can you do this?

Kai spent a whole day doing this. Everytime he caught your eye, down he'd go. Too funny!

I can't even remember the last time this wasn't painful!

The weirdest thing happened today...

I got home from taking Noah to school and there were no messages to be returned, or emails to be answered for work. I have a free minute!! How fun! It took me a bit to upload pictures from the camera, but now I'm good to go!
I'll share a few with you: these are some firsts from this summer:
Noah's first day of school at Donnan, hockey program, August 20th
A triathlon for Noah, Jessica and me. (I?) In Fort MacLeod on August 16th. We had a great time! You should join us next year!
Perry's new Camaro. I do like going for rides with him after the boys are in bed!

I'm going to do some small posts today so stay tuned for more!

Yummy, quick, and good for you part 2

Here's another quick recipe that we all liked:
1 lb lean hamburger fried then drained.
add 1 cut up pepper, 1 pkg taco sauce and 1/4 cup water. simmer.
mix together 1 Tbsp salsa and 1 tbsp FF sour cream.
put cooked pasta in a bowl, add some meat, top with some skim cheese then a dallop of salsa/sour cream mixture.
Yummy!
This is from the Cooking for Life cook book by Bill Phillips.

Hello!

The summer is just flying by! Is it that way for you, too? It's been almost a month since I posted and honestly it feels like days. I'm not even going to try and catch you up to what has been happening - We'd be here for hours! Just a few highlights:
-Ryan and Noah went to camps at the U of A and had a great time
-Cameron touches the tub at both ends when laying down in it - I'm pretty sure he's going to be the tallest of all the boys
-Kai is walking. weird.
-We bought a new van - 2007 Honda Odyssey. I'll admit I still get a little thrill everytime I go out to leave and see it there.
-Perry is making great progress on the front yard!!! He's the best!
-Costco has the new Stephenie Meyers book - Breaking Dawn - on for $13.99
-the new catalogue for Stampin' Up! should be here anyday now. Very exciting.

Have a great day!

Quick, easy, good for you and yummy!

How about all those things in one recipe?!!
I'm doing a new eating/workout program and am trying to cook better. I came across this chili recipe and decided to try it out. Everyone loved it! All my boys, and 2 of the neighbour kids scarfed this down and I only had about 1 cup in leftovers. I went to eat it for a snack and it was already gone! Try it out:

1lb ground turkey cooked with 1/2 an onion
add 1 lg can of cut tomatoes and 2 cans of pork and beans.
season with cumin and chili powder
simmer for 1 hr. (or 20 minutes as I did)

Really, thats it.
We loved it!

Sunday, July 6, 2008

too funny!

Kai was playing with the lid to the garbage can and got stuck with his head in it! I went to take a picture by the memory card to the camera was in the computer because I was downloading pictures. I will admit that while he was struggling to get out I was wiping the lid off so raspberry stains wouldn't be in the picture! I hope he does it again so I can share...

Happy Campers

Here's my happy campers! The boys went hiking in Kananaskis for a few days with my brother, some cousins, some friends and some soon-to-be-friends. Ryan and Noah had a great time and are already talking about next time! It rained on them on the way out, but it didn't damper any spirits!

My lemonade card

Finally, I posted my lemonade card!! The wrinkles in it don't look nearly as big in real life!! I saw the original one here. Anyone wanna come on over, have a drink and laze around on a hot summer day...be my guest!

I've been sorely lacking...

...in the card department lately!

I used Melissa's inspiration and did up a bunch of thank you cards quickly. Kai got into my craft room - Ryan had to rescue him off my table- so I'm missing a few cards, but I did 16 in total. It is satisfying to see a pile of cards after just a short time!

A few more thank yous. I'm tryint to use up my DP and the in colors that will no longer be "in."

I'm pretty sure this one was cased from Andrea. I love her stuff!!

Stampin' Up!

I hope you've all had a chance to look at the retiring list. I will say I am saddest about "Unfrogettable" and the Best Friends alphabet. The accessories list is coming out soon! I have to say, though, that I get really excited thinking about what they are going to replace all these retiring sets with. Guess what?!! I have seen a few of the new sets, and you won't be disappointed. And, I absolutely loved the new accessories that we got to peek at. My favorite? Well, there are probably 4 favorites right now....look forward to some beautiful designer paper, a punch you won't be able to live without, a fabulous simply sent kit (priced just right), and some buttons that you'll adore!!

I'll be hosting a party in August featuring these new products...you won't want to miss it!! Watch here for more details coming soon! I'm getting excited just thinking about it...and its 2:30 am here now, so it has to be good for me to keep my eyes open! I can't wait to show you and hear what you think!

We've been having a run of beautiful weather and I haven't made it to my stampin' room in a bit, but I plan on changing that soon! I do have a card to share with you that is just too cute! Lemonade, anyone?? I'll post it tomorrow...

Well, on the 2:30 am note, I'm heading off to bed.

Cammy, Cammy, Cammy....

So, we pretty much have it drilled into Cam's brain that he is NOT TO GO IN THE POOL WITHOUT A SWIM SHIRT ON!!!!! The poor boy takes after his dad and is as white as can be. However, he really should have changed out of his Sunday shirt and put a swim shirt on before he jumped on in! It was soo hot on Sunday I couldn't say no. I was jealous just watching him!
Another soccer season finished! Yah! Did I say that outloud? I love watching boys this age playing soccer - it makes me laugh how some are so into it, and others are picking dandelions (or their noses) and they all chase the ball together and kick their own teammates to get the ball and just walk off the field when they want a drink, or need to pee on a bush....- but sometimes getting there is a battle. Ryan and Noah were really good about coming to all the games, though. I told them that Cam watched them play hockey all winter, they can watch him play soccer for 2 months. I didn't think they would get my logic, but they did and were good sports about it!
Play school is finished! It is off the kindergarten in the fall for this one!

To throw a 10 year olds party have...

1) The swimming pool. It was too cold for me, but the boys had fun! Luckily the weather held off and didn't start raining until the last boy was being picked up!

We had to drain the pool today because there was a big leak. I thought I could just top up the water every now and then, but, no. So, we drained it today, I'll patch it in the morning and hopefully fill it again tomorrow night. We'll have warm water again when it's time to put it away for the summer...LOL! It won't be that bad, but I am sad because it was nice and warm and now we have to start all over again!

2) The Astro Jump. This one came with boxing gloves and everything! Who doesn't love astro jumps at parties??

3) BBQ. This is what happens when you have the hamburgers from Costco that are 40 for $21 and a really dirty drip pan! ROFLOL!! (If my house isn't getting cleaned the BBQ for sure needs help! In my defense, if I waste a day cleaning that could turn into 25% of my summer GONE! You never know. Enjoy the warm weather when its here, I say! The burgers are pretty greasy and the drip pan was REALLY dirty. No worries though, I just turned the bbq off, let the flames do the cooking and then turned it back on when the flames were gone. Finished cooking the burgers and we're good to go!
My drip pan has now been changed, if you were wondering!

4) A pop guzzling contest. Noah picked Fresca. Yuck! No wonder we had boys spitting it out. I don't blame them, really.

5) The attendees. This is about 3/4 of the boys that were there. Noah is off to the right sitting in a chair opening presents. He mostly got money - holy cow the kid cleaned up. $90. He and his dad (grammar??) went out and got new goalie pads, a blocker and glove. I hope I get $90 when it's my birthday again.

6) I didn't get a picture, but we also had guitar hero and rock band on the Wii for them. It's pretty funny to be upstairs and listen to 10 boys singing "Roxanne" at the top of their lungs! Good times.

I have to admit, it is really nice at this age that I don't have to entertain the boys - just get everything going and let them ruin the house -oops, i mean, run all over the house. All I had to do was collect everyone for the pop guzzling and then cake eating and birthday song singing.

Well, one boy done for another year. Whatever will I do until the next birthday rolls around? Lets see...that would be Ryan turning 12. Holy cow! I'm much too young for this!
